Telegraph is something that was developed and came into the use of humans much before the arrival of radio. Telegraph was developed in the 1840s whereas radio came much later at around 1920s. Till then the communication within the people was made possible only by the use of telegraph which could send the message from one place to another. As the radio appeared in the scenario the disadvantages of the telegraph came into visibility which was the reason the radio took over the telegraph. Though telegraph could transmit the message of the people from one place to another but it could not transmit the voice of the people as radio was able to do. Secondly, like radio, telegraph could not travel long distances and reach many people.
